HFA Preceptor Course at LAIN Fall Conference

Embassy Suites by Hilton Noblesville Indianapolis Conference Center, 13700 Conference Center Dr S Noblesville, IN 46060

LeadingAge Indiana is pleased to announce that a HFA Preceptor Certification Course is now available to 2023 Fall Conference attendees!

  • This cumulative five-hour board approved session will be taught by Becky Bartle and will provide all of the necessary components to achieve Preceptor Certification.
  • Attendees who register for this Deep Dive session will not register to participate in any additional breakout sessions on Thursday, 9/14. View the conference agenda here.

It’s time for applicable Administrators to be appraised of the new/revised rules and gain certification in an effort to be ready to support the recruitment and development of our future leaders in long term care.

To qualify as a preceptor, the applicant must:

(1)    Be currently licensed as health facility administrator

(2)    Be in good standing and not the subject of a disciplinary action by the board

(3)    File an application with the board and be approved before serving as a preceptor

(4)    Complete a board approved education program

The applicant must meet one of the following criteria:

(1)    Have active work experience as a health facility administrator for at least two (2) years prior to the date of serving as a preceptor

(2)    Be currently employed as a chief executive officer of a continuing care retirement community

(3)    Be currently employed as a regional manager for a health facility

(4)    Be employed by an administrator in training school.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:

Under the new rule, a preceptor who serves as an administrator of a licensed comprehensive facility may now supervise two (2) AITs.

Under this new rule, a preceptor may precept more than two (2) AITs but not more than four (4) AITs, if the preceptor’s sole duty is that of a preceptor; and the preceptor spends at least eight (8) hours per week with each AIT.

Consider becoming a mentor to those entering our profession!

REGISTRATION OPTIONS:

You may choose to register for the Fall Conference as a one-day registration for Thursday, 9/14 only OR you can choose to register for the full conference for two days, Thursday, 9/14 - Friday, 9/14.
